1. Tell us about your last book in one sentence.
Sylvia thinks she has her life under control, but she learns that control is overrated.
2. What’s the last book you read that blew you away?
Bird Box is on my mind today because the movie trailer just came out. In terms of lesbian fiction, I keep coming back to Letters Never Sent by Sandra Moran and Jam on the Vine by LaShonda Katrice Barnett. Neither are particularly new, but they both are just as timely as they were when they came out.
3. Do you happen to have any celebrity crushes at the moment? ?
Clea Duvall is always a crush for me. Maria Bello as well.
4. What are you most proud of as a writer?
That I keep going, keep refining my process, and that I keep learning new techniques and ideas. A lot of my writer friends balk at changing things up, but I revel in it!
5. What’s next for you?
I’m gearing up for NanoWriMo18 by writing character sketches, defining character relationships, and setting up scene outlines. The WIP is a spinoff and prequel to Elegant Freefall. The character in common is Andi Stevens—we get to see her in a completely different context and group of friends. The cast is quite diverse and there are people who are lesbian, bi, and straight. It will be character driven and about the baggage and self-expectations we all carry and how those things impede us.
Angelic Rodgers lives in L.A. (Lower Arkansas) with her wife, two unruly cats, and a couple of codependent dogs. Elegant Freefall is her fourth novel. You can keep up with her at www.angelicrodgers.com
