1. Tell us about your last book in one sentence.
Two girls afraid of commitment hook up in hotel rooms; when they unintentionally start working together at a sci-fi and fantasy publisher, things get awkward yet steamy.
2. What’s the last book you read that blew you away?
I’m currently reading The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon, a behemoth of an epic fantasy with dragons. It has an F/F relationship, too!
3. Do you happen to have any celebrity crushes at the moment? 😉
Jodie Comer from Killing Eve. Yes, she’s a serial killer, but she’s still hot. Also Héloïse Letissier aka Christine and the Queens. I’m bi, so a dude crush is Bob Morley from The 100.
4. What are you most proud of as a writer?
Not giving up even if success isn’t immediate, and writing what I’d most like to read myself. I’m also proud I’ve managed to make a living at it for a while, as a writer and creative writing lecturer.
5. What’s next for you?
There will be at least one more Romancing the Page novella (An Unheard Song, out in March) as well as a collection of the first three. I’d like to write more, but it sort of depends on sales of the first few and my writing schedule.
In 2020, I have a book out under my other name, Laura Lam, written with Elizabeth May (who self publishes historical romance as Katrina Kendrick) which is a feminist space opera pitched as Mad Max: Fury Road in space! That’ll be fun.
Laura Ambrose is an American who now lives in Scotland, where she writes about beautiful women falling in love while drinking tea and occasionally staring outside the window at Arthur’s Seat and Edinburgh Castle. Laura also writes speculative fiction under the name Laura Lam.
