1. Tell us about your last book in one sentence.
On the same day Lily finds out she’s pregnant, she meets hotshot obstetrician Mercedes, who makes her question her plan to start a family alone.
2. What’s the last book you read that blew you away?
I wish I had more time for reading! I did get a chance to read Miranda MacLeod’s Holme for the Holidays around Christmas and it was such a charming, atmospheric story. And you have to love any book that includes a cantankerous llama!
3. Do you happen to have any celebrity crushes at the moment? 😉
I always have celebrity crushes. I’ve been watching the TV serialization of Fargo and Mary Elizabeth Winstead is perfection in season 3. Of course, I could never have eyes for anyone other than my future wife, Natalie Portman… just waiting for her call.
4. What are you most proud of as a writer?
I’m simultaneously the most proud of and the most surprised by the incredible community of readers and friends that I’ve gained since I started publishing my novels. I never expected to make so many friends, and I can’t describe the surreal feeling whenever someone new introduces themselves and tells me that they love my work. I take every chance I get to say thank you to everyone who has read my books – I appreciate every one of them!
5. What’s next for you?
2019 is going to be the year of exploring more genres. So far I’ve stuck to contemporary romance, but I have a few ideas brewing for a magical realism novel and some police procedurals. Of course, I’ve still got a ton more happy ever afters to write as well!
Cara Malone writes contemporary lesbian fiction with drama, depth, and plenty of heat, including the bestselling Lakeside Hospital medical romance series and 2017 Rainbow Award Honorable Mention The Rules of Love. She can be found writing – and caffeinating – in coffee shops around Northeast Ohio, and when she’s not working, there’s a good chance she can be found curled up on the couch with her rabbits, Scout and Charlie.
